2023 - 2024 PRESIDENT OF ASHRAEGinger Scoggins is a licensed mechanical engineer with 34 years of experience. She is the former President and Co-owner of Engineered Designs, Inc., a full-service engineering firm which she founded 28 years ago. Ginger is also a certified commissioning agent, as well as a certified energy manager. Her focus is on designing high-performing buildings across a wide variety of markets.
In addition to running her firm, Ginger has been heavily involved in ASHRAE since 1988 when she joined the Triangle Chapter in Raleigh. Ginger became the first female president of the chapter for the 1995-96 year, the first female Regional Vice-chair, and the first female Director & Regional Chair for Region IV. Ginger was recently named a Fellow of the organization and was the 2023-24 President of ASHRAE.

A nursing graduate, she integrates healthcare, environmental, and engineering perspectives to support education, social sustainability, and culturally grounded solutions.

Ben is a founding principal at Red Pelican Building Science with 18 years of engineering expertise, has modeled energy for over 200 diverse projects. He guides teams from concept to post-construction, optimizing for energy and cost. Ben also specializes in the WELL Building Standard, applying his Accredited Professional insights to enhance human health in every project.

Brian Brunskill
GEOLOGICAL CONSULTANT
Brian Brunskill, P.Geo., has provided geological consulting to Canada’s petroleum, potash, and energy sectors since 1985, with recent work focused on geothermal heat, carbon storage, and energy storage solutions.

Daniel Benner
Smart, Sustainable, Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA)
Daniel Benner is Manager of Industry Relations at the Smart, Sustainable, Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA), a non-profit advancing energy-efficient innovation in Alberta’s building sector. He leads industry engagement, membership growth, and expanding SSRIA’s provincial presence. With a background in architecture, real estate development, and sustainability, Daniel bridges disciplines to foster collaboration. He holds a Master of Architecture and a BA in Urban Studies with a Certificate in Sustainability.

Erik Nickel
Petroleum Technology Research Centre
Erik H. Nickel was born and raised in Saskatchewan and now resides near Regina. He holds a Geology degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master’s from the University of Regina. With over 20 years in petroleum geology, Erik has worked extensively on CCUS and CO₂ storage since 2002. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer at the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC), overseeing research in CCUS, CO₂-EOR, and geothermal resources.

Ian Loughran
VERECO
Ian Loughran is an engineer and sustainability professional with over 15 years of expertise in renewable energy, high-performance building science, and sustainable development. A proud member of Métis Nation Saskatchewan, he leads Vereco Consulting and Design, specializing in net-zero and passive house projects, retrofits, and carbon reduction strategies. His 29-year career includes leadership roles in government, utilities, not-for-profits, and private sector organizations, alongside multiple entrepreneurial ventures. Following his recovery from stage 4 cancer, Ian has focused on climate action, delivering innovative projects that create economic, environmental, and social value—particularly in Indigenous communities.

John Wells joined Crosier Kilgour in 1990 and became a principal in 2001. A recognized expert in building envelope systems and durable building consulting, he provides specialized analysis and guidance on envelope design and remediation for both local and national projects.

Kathleen Tiede

Kathleen Tiede, P.Eng., is an Associate with Crosier Kilgour and a Sustainability Consultant with 15 years’ experience guiding over 75 LEED, Green Globes, and Net Zero Carbon projects across the Prairies. She now focuses on carbon modelling to help reduce both embodied and operational carbon impacts.

Lynn Mueller
SHARC ENERGY
Mr. Lynn Mueller is the Executive Director of SHARC Energy, based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Lynn, a recipient of Clean50 Lifetime Achievement Awards was in the geo-thermal heat pump business when he thought, trillions of gallons of warm, residential wastewater is just going down the drain, why not recycle that energy. SHARC Energy was born.
SHARC is a multi-award-winning success, but Lynn is doing it for his family. He has four children and three granddaughters, Lynn’s personal mission is to do all he can to make the world more livable for them and others.

Matt Dipple
AIRTIGHT ENGINEERING INC.
Matt Dipple is a Professional Engineer practicing in energy modeling, building envelope consulting, and mechanical design. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Systems Engineering and is a Certified Passive House Consultant. He is a co-owner of Airtight Engineering and also teaches the Passive House Canada designer course. In his free time Matt enjoys ultimate frisbee, singing, and gardening with his wife.

Mohsen Zarepour, an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) at SaskEnergy, designs and evaluates energy efficiency programs to help customers make informed choices. With a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and over a decade of experience, he brings data-driven expertise to advance sustainable energy solutions across Saskatchewan and beyond.

Murdoch MacPherson, B.Sc. Mech Eng., is a Principal at MacPherson Engineering, specializing in the design, analysis, and project management of mechanical systems for a wide range of facilities, from laboratories and high-rises to educational and recreational buildings.

Peter Wotherspoon
GOVERNMENT OF SASKATCHEWAN
Peter Wotherspoon serves as the Chief Codes Administrator for the Province of Saskatchewan's Building and Technical Standards Branch. He brings over 21 years of construction experience in design and implementation across private industry, as well as municipal and provincial levels of government. Throughout his career, he has authored guides to inform stakeholders and contributes his expertise to various national technical committees on construction standards. Mr. Wotherspoon is a registered Professional Technologist (P.Tech.) and a Class 2 Licensed Building Official.

Wendell Starblanket, a Nehiyawak (Cree) from Starblanket First Nation in Treaty 4 territory, serves as a Traditional Knowledge Keeper with Regina Public Schools and Speaker of the House for the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations. A dedicated cultural leader, he shares teachings on protocol, treaties, and reconciliation, while supporting initiatives that advance Indigenization, social justice, and community well-being.

Reanne Risdale
TORONTO METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY
Reanne Ridsdale is a PhD candidate at Toronto Metropolitan University whose research explores brownfield revitalization, social justice, and environmental racism. A board member of the Canadian Brownfield Network and Sustainable Remediation Forum Canada, she also co-leads the ReActivate Brownfield Research Lab and teaches stakeholder engagement and geography in Canada and internationally.

Sophie Brunas
MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE STUDENT - UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
Sophie Brunas is a recent Master of Architecture graduate from UBC whose work explores how architecture can support cultural and ecological resilience in rural and peripheral landscapes. With roots in rural Ottawa and Gray, SK, and an interdisciplinary background from McMaster, she brings a systems-based lens to design that bridges urban-rural divides and reimagines our relationship to land and food.

Shanon Zachidniak - Moderator
City Council Member, City of Regina
Shanon is a passionate community builder who has spent the past decade focused on improving the lives of Regina residents. Her work has included management roles with several community organizations, including: Wascana Solar Co-operative, REACH, and the Regina Farmers’ Market. She has a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies and a Bachelor’s in Journalism. Shanon is also a published writer and former ESL teacher.

Arman Mottaghi
CEO, Properate
Arman is CEO and co-founder of Properate, a Vancouver start-up that uses artificial intelligence to help homebuilders create cost- and energy-efficient building designs. A thought leader and innovator in the green building space, Mottaghi has developed partnerships with five B.C. cities and has helped more than 200 builders build more energy-efficient homes. .
Arman spend at least 5 hours a week doing volunteer work, mainly in the BC Sustainable Energy Association. -

Pat Parrott
Program Consultant, SaskPower
Pat has 25+ years in marketing and managing energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable programs, in First Nation, low-income, residential, commercial, and industrial markets.

Tracey Kutney
Deputy Director, Energy Efficiency at Natural Resources Canada
Tracey works in the Office of Energy Efficiency at Natural Resources Canada. She is responsible for the teams that deliver the EnerGuide Rating system, ENERGY STAR for New Homes, energy labelling of homes, and programs that support energy efficiency and labelling initiatives. She is a professional engineer with over 20 years working in the electricity and energy sectors. Outside of work, Tracey has undertaken several renovation projects to lower her own utility bills.

Leveraging her industry experience and long-standing passion for sustainable energy, Megan leads initiatives that make energy efficiency more accessible and affordable for customers.
